   Theodore F. Hull

   Theodore F. Hull passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at Bortz Health
   Care of Petoskey. He was the son of John and Katherine (Caldwell) Hull
   and was born in Cadillac, Mich., March 21, 1904.

   He married Delores Matthew in 1934 and worked and lived in Northern
   Michigan most of his life. He retired from Michigan Bell Telephone
   Company in 1969.

   He was preceded in death by his wife in 1996 and his son, James, in
   1967. He is survived by two sons, Jerry Hull and his wife, Ingrid, of
   San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Roger Hull of Las Vegas, Nev.; also by
   several nieces and nephews.

   There will be no funeral service.
 

   James J. Chanda Sr.

   James J. Chanda Sr., 80, of East Jordan, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at
   Tendercare of Gaylord.

   Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at St. John's
   Nepomucene Catholic Church, Jordan Township, Antrim County. The Rev.
   Roy Zebrowski will officiate. Interment will be in St. John Nepomucene
   Pioneer Cemetery, Jordan Township, Antrim County.

   He was born April 19, 1921, at the Bohemian Settlement in Jordan
   Township, the son of Joseph J. and Margaret (Divis) Chanda.

   James had worked at the East Jordan Iron Works and the Boyne City
   Tannery for a short time. He managed orchard groves most of his life.
   During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of
   the Disabled American Veterans.

   He was an outdoorsman, and enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing.

   James is survived by one son, Kenneth Chanda, of Toledo, Ohio; two
   daughters, Shirley (Donald) Modrowski of Boulder City, Nev., and
   Beverly Loomis of East Jordan; six grandchildren; three
   great-grandchildren; one sister, Marie Rebec, of East Jordan; and two
   brothers, William (Robie) Chanda of Owosso, and Joseph (Carol) Chanda
   of Bellaire. He was preceded in death by one son, James J. Chanda Jr.,
   on Aug. 29, 1989; and one great-grandchild.

   The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday,
   Aug. 9, at the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc., in East Jordan. A rosary
   will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or to the
   American Cancer Society.
 

   Ella Ann (Tiny) Meindl

   Ella Ann (Tiny) Meindl passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2001.

   She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, former Petoskey
   Fire Chief Bill Meindl; one sister, Ellen of Bangor, Maine; and two
   brothers, Don and Chester Drew, of Monson, Maine.

   She is survived by brothers, Fred and Harry Drew, of Alaska;
   daughters, Alberta (John) VanElst, of Wyoming, Mich., and Edna DeFrece
   of Kentwood, Mich.; four grandchildren, Pamela (Claude) Rolfe of White
   Cloud, Cynthia (Hank) Minnema of Grand Rapids, Carol (Bill) Thomas of
   Kentwood, and Edward Goldammer of Grand Rapids; and four
   great-grandchildren, Crystal Minnema, Shelby Minnema, Dalton Minnema
   and Bryce Thomas.

   Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at St. Francis
   Solanus Church in Bay Shore.

   Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at Stone Funeral Home in
   Petoskey.
